Ok, eris, I was able to look up details on your motherboard for your computer. You can buy another 128MB stick of RAM (there are 2 slots for RAM and one should be free if you only have 128MB now). It is SDRAM and you can use either PC100 or PC133. The RAM in your system is most likely PC100, so you might as well buy the same speed. If you were to buy at the store, you want 1 stick of 128MB PC100 SDRAM.

As for your video: There is no AGP slot in your computer, just PCI. AGP is the faster and more popular, but they still make PCI video cards. I noticed that ATI makes a PCI version of the Radeon 7500. If you were to buy a video card, you need to get a 32MB (or higher) PCI card. You'd want to make sure on the box that it said 32-bit color, 3D graphics. An ATI Radeon 7000 or 7200 would also qualify.

Let me know if you want to upgrade the computer. I can send you links for various video cards that would qualify. The main thing is, you need a PCI one NOT AGP, so you'd have to look extra careful at the stores because they tend to stock mostly AGP now.

Thank you Bran. Shadow... er Pirate Kitty and I spent the morning figuring this stuff out (did you know they make manuals for motherboards? I have mine! woot!). I'm gonna open the box in the next couple days and make sure that there's only one ram stick in there, also make sure I have a slot open that I can put the pci card in. If nothing blows up during this bold experiment, I'll work on the next step: actually putting stuff in.

There are at least two major stores that have 128mb sticks of pc100 on sale for about $15-20 after rebate. Here's Staples, just to give you an idea about it.

As far as video cards go, I really haven't seen much that's cheap in regular stores. Every good deal is from an online store. As I said before, if you want to go that route I'll be glad to help you.

RAM, however, should always be bought from a major retailer with a warranty, whenever possible. It's too easy to fry when it goes through the mail.

I'm impressed you have a manual for that motherboard. It's rare for them to give one out on brand name machines.

You may want to check out eBay for video cards. Since you don't need one with the latest technology, you may find deals there.
